DESCRIPTION:The Family Empowerment Project+ is a new approach designed by Serna Solutions to address and inform responses to co-occurring Addiction/Substance Use Disorders and Mental Health Disorders. FEP+ organizes evidence-based approaches such as Community Reinforcement and Family Training (CRAFT) and Motivational Interviewing to support concerned significant others through a skills-based curriculum. This 2-day training is designed for behavioral health care providers to learn a new approach for supporting community members who have loved ones challenged by co-occurring disorders. This training includes psychoeducation on co-occurring disorders\, communication skills training\, behavioral change\, and motivation skills\, self-care for clients\, and how to facilitate the navigation of behavioral health services. This 9am-4pm (both days) online training requires a working camera and microphone to attend. You must attend both days to receive credit\, and there will be a 1 HR lunch break from 12-1 pm\, MST (12 CEUs).

It uses non-judgmental and non-confrontational techniques and principles. CRAFT is a culturally sensitive program that works with families to positively influence the behavior of a person with an active addiction. The program emphasizes learning new skills to cope with old problems. Some components include how to stay safe\, understand the function of the addiction\, and teach concerned significant others how to influence healthier behaviors in their loved ones\, increase personal self-care\, and improve relationships. CRAFT research has shown that almost 7 out of 10 people who use the program get their substance users to attend treatment. CRAFT has been developed\, researched\, and implemented with diverse populations\, relationships\, and substances. This training is designed for behavioral health care providers. This online Oct. 21st and 22nd training\, 9 am-4 pm (both days)\, requires a working camera and microphone to attend\, and you must attend both days to receive CEUs. There will be a 1 HR 12-1 pm lunch break\, MST (12 CEUs).

DESCRIPTION:Motivational Interviewing (MI) Level 1 Motivational Interviewing is one of the most heavily researched interventions in the fields of addiction\, behavioral health and medicine. Study after study has reliably demonstrated that implementing this practice with proficiency and consistency will improve outcomes for consumers of behavioral healthcare. MI is an approach that attempts to move an individual away from a state of indecision or uncertainty and towards finding motivation to making positive decisions and accomplishing established goals. MI as a directional\, consumer-centered style of interacting with the goal of eliciting behavior change by helping individuals explore and resolve ambivalence. Rather than acting in an antagonistic or combative way\, the helper engages with the consumer to explore his/her feelings\, including ambivalence about changing\, and help clients find their own motivations. This workshop provides participants with an overview of the research and theoretical base for the model. Participants will also practice MI strategies and skills in small groups throughout the day. DESCRIPTION:Mindfulness-Based Somatic Emotional Processing (MBSEP) was developed by Dr. Robert Weisz. It is a mindful\, body-centered approach to activating intrinsic emotional processing in the brain. The processing is activated and maintained by the client’s and the therapist’s mindful\, Felt Sense Attention placed upon the client’s somatic experience. The client’s emotional processing is enabled\, focused\, and supported through the attuned relational connection between the therapist and the client. A focus on tender\, compassionate awareness creates a special quality of attention which helps to activate the healing process. MBSEP is a practical\, useful method for initiating and promoting essential emotional processing. It can easily be incorporated into any therapeutic modality. This online training will be Nov. 12th and 13th from 9am-4:30pm\, with an hour lunch break at noon\, MST. A working camera and microphone are required to participate in this training. CRAFT research has shown that almost 7 out of 10 people who use the program get their substance users to attend treatment. CRAFT has been shown to be equally effective with Hispanic and Anglo families. A working camera and microphone are required to participate in this 2-day training – Nov. 14th and 15th from 9am-4pm\, with a 1 HR lunch break each day (12 CEUs.)
